ATM'S IN AFRICA

There are now many ATM's across Africa, but DO NOT RELY ON THEM. There quite often not working!! Mostwill only accept Visa OR Mastercard.** Although there are charging facilities at most campsites, some places run on generators, and the power supply may be erratic, so please bring a voltage stabiliser to ensure nothing blows up!

*** When email is in town it may involve a short bus or taxi ride, but there is ample opportunity to email in places wherethe truck stops for shopping.    

Mobile phone reception is now fairly widespread and a roaming phone can be very useful when trying to keep in contact.If you do not have a roaming phone, phone cards for each country are widely available, just ensure your phone is tri-band and unlocked.
