Leaving Johannesburg we travel through Western Botswana and the green Kalahari en-route to Windhoek, capital of Namibia.
Leaving Windhoek we travel North to Damaraland on scenic gravel roads. Here we visit Twyfelfontein Rock Paintings, the Petrified Forest and continue through the eerie moonlandscape as we head towards the Western coast of Namibia. Here we spend a couple of days in Swakopmund, where you can take part in a variety of activities like sand boarding, quad rides in the dunes, a living desert tour or shark fishing.
Next stop is the famous Sossusvlei, home to the dunes of the magnificent Namib Desert. We spend some time here and for the energetic you can climb Dune 45 for some magnificent photo opportunities.
We continue south on some spectacular gravel roads with the Nambian landscape continuously changeing shades and shapes.
We briefly visit Luderitz and the wild horses of Namibia and then travel to the Fish River Canyon, second biggest canyon in the world. After an overnight stop here we head back into South Africa and travel through the Northern Cape region back to Johannesburg |
