Nairobi to Zanzibar Overland

Experience Tanzania's varied geography, diverse cultures and famed wildlife reserves on this safari filled with many highlights. You will travel along the vast plains of the Serengeti with its abundance of plains' game and predator populations whilst experiencing the natural spectacle of the Ngorongoro Crater Reserve. Tanzania also has some of the most diverse cultures presenting you with opportunities to interact with a variety of people from the famed Masai tribes, to the large Muslim population of Zanzibar. Without doubt you will be amazed by Tanzania's varied landscapes. Explore the Serengeti, and drive along the Usambara mountain ranges to the picture perfect coastline of Zanzibar.

Day 1 - Monday Leaving Nairobi we head across the border to Arusha at the base of Mount Meru.

Day 2 - Tuesday We have the option to take Land Rovers to Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. If not, just hang around camp, go into town or visit Arusha National Park.

Day 3 - Wednesday After game drives through the Serengeti, we then head into the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation area.

Day 4 - Thursday After a morning Game Drive we then head back to Arusha for the evening and a well deserved hot shower.

Day 5 - Friday A long driving day to Dar es Salaam and the Indian Ocean, where we camp by the beach.

Day 6 - Saturday An early morning ferry ride will take us to the Spice Island of Zanzibar and our first night in Stone Town.

Day 7 - Sunday After an early morning Spice Tour and then lunch we head up to the North of the Island and relax on the white sandy shores.

Day 8 - Monday A day to relax, snorkel, scuba dive and take a sunset cruise on a Dhow before back to the beach for a seafood feast.

Day 9 - Tuesday Take one last walk along the beach, before heading back to Stone Town, to stock up on souvenirs and goodies.

Day 10 - Wednesday A morning to take in the last piece of Spice, then back on the Ferry to Dar, and connect with your flights back home.

Cooking

We take turns with the cooking. Two meals a day are included while on the truck. We normally have lunch out at local cafes on the way, lots of fun. Meals out are not included.
Camping

Those campsites that are more basic tend to be more scenic; that is especially in the game parks where basic toilets and cold showers are the norm. After a night at such camps we do our best to follow with a hot shower bar campsite. Although in the Masai Mara are two basic nights, but the wild beauty and the animals in the park more than makes up for this.
Changes

You should be aware that things change frequently in Africa; camps open and close, as do the roads. So there is a chance that the itinerary may have to be changed due to unforeseen circumstances.
