Week 1 Anchorage Alaska. The tiny port town of Whittier, pristine glaciers and glistening fjord's, the Prince William Sound by cruise boat. Breaching humpback whales, pods of orcas, porpoises, seals and sea otters are all common-place here as well as over 200 species of birds. Keep an eye out for bears on the shore!
We continue on through the Kenai Peninsula, famous for its salmon rich streams, before arriving in the fishing port of Homer. We now ferry over to Kodiak Island, home to the world's largest grizzly bears!
Week 2 We now head north for the interior heart of Alaska on our way to the wonderful Denali National Park. Bears, lone wolves and herds of grazing moose and caribou. A few days of hiking and biking are on offer. A visit to Fairbanks Alaska and the Dalton Highway into the Arctic Circle, up to the town of Deadhorse. Wildlife viewing highlight, grizzly bears, musk ox, arctic fox, caribou, moose and black bears being spotted.
Week 3 Returning south we head for Chicken. Once a bustling mining town. We continue on to Wrangell St Elias National Park, considered to be one of the world's best with opportunity to spot black and brown bears, other native Alaskan mammals. The park is well-renowned for stunning mountain scenery and abundant hiking trails. before returning to Anchorage via some of the most beautiful and striking river and mountain scenery you will probably ever see. |
