This Egypt and Middle East expedition delivers a full-scale journey through history, starting in Istanbul , Turkey and travelling to Cairo Egypt.

Istanbul is a beautiful city joining Asia to Europe . We explore the Ruins, battle fields take in the culture of this great country, travelling on we discover the Crusader castles and markets of Syria as well as exploring the oldest continually inhabited city in the world, Damascus in Syria.

The Dead Sea in Jordan is next and Wadi Moussa from where we explore the ancient capital of the Nabataeans, Petra. Taking a break from man-made structures, we venture into the desert to Wadi Rum, Lawrence of Arabia’s country, to drink mint tea with the locals and sleep out under the stars. Departing the port of Aqaba we take the ferry to Egypt . The Red Sea has some of the best diving in the world with clear blue water and abundant coral and sea life, camel safaris, jeep safaris, snorkelling or just relax in a beachside café. Luxor, on the banks of the Nile, with its tombs, monolithic statues and over a dozen temple complexes making this area one immense museum. This is the site of Thebes , the capital of ancient Egypt . South of Luxor is Aswan , the southernmost town in Egypt , departure point for a side trip to the Abu Simbel on the shores of Lake Nasser . From Aswan , we take a felucca down the Nile , This is a great chance to sit back, relax while the crew cook all sorts of traditional food. We Arrive in Cairo , by train on the last day of the tour.

Turkey - Days 1 - 14

Istanbul on the Bosphorus. Gallipoli - Anzac soldiers battlefields. Dardenelles cross from Europe to Asia. Troy - Trojan wooden horse. Ephesus the largest Roman city on the Mediterranean coast. Temple of Artemis, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Pamukkale a hillside of white limestone curtained terraces, with ancient spa pools. Turquoise Coast - Kas and Olympos with its eternal flames. Kekova underwater temple.. Cappadoccia, a region formed from volcanic ash, Goreme churches and monasteries. Derinkuyu massive underground city & Turkish carpets and pottery.

Syria & Lebanon- Days 15 - 21

Aleppo - covered markets, citadel and caravanserais. Crusader Castle Krac-de-Chevaliers. Palmyra; the Roman city in the desert. Damascus the oldest city in the world. Lebanon - day trip (politics permitting) with Beirut the Templeof Jupiter at Baalbeck.

Jordan - Days 22 - 26

Dead Seaso salty you can only float on top. Petra with buildings and temples carved into the mountain walls. Wadi Rum the desert base of Lawrence of Arabia.

Egypt - Days 27 - 42

Ferry across the Red Sea to the Sinai. Dahab the best coral reefs in the world. St. Catherine's Monastery - the oldest in the world Mount Sinai - here Moses received the Ten Commandments Suez Canalwith convoys of ocean liners sailing through the dunes. Luxor - This stretch of the Nile with its tombs, monolithic statues and dozens of Pharonic temples makes up one immense outdoor museum. Karnak - evening sound and light show. Colossi of Memnon - Valley of the Kings -Tutankhamon's Tomb Aswan - with the desert sands rolling into the river, Abu Simbel in the Western Desert to monuments built by Pharaoh Rameses II on the Aswan High Dam. Sail by felucca to see the River Nile and the ancient farming life on its banks Night train along the Nile to Cairo.
